Scuba divers look up to divemasters because they are leaders who mentor and motivate others. As a divemaster, you not only get to dive a lot, but also experience the joy of seeing others have as much fun diving as you do. The PADI Divemaster course is your first level of professional training. Working closely with a PADI Instructor, you’ll fine-tune your dive skills, like perfecting the effortless hover, and refine your rescue skills so you anticipate and easily solve common problems. You’ll gain dive knowledge, management and supervision abilities so you become a role model to divers everywhere.

As a PADI Divemaster, you’ll lead others as you supervise scuba diving activities and assist with diver training. Whether you want to work at a faraway dive destination or close to home at a local dive shop, the adventure of a lifetime awaits you. PADI Divemasters are respected dive professionals who are aligned with the largest and most respected dive organization in the world – PADI.

What Are The Requirements To Join A PADI Divemaster Course?

  1. PADI Advanced Open Water and PADI Rescue Diver certifications (or qualifying certifications)
  2. 18 years old
  3. Medical clearance attesting to dive fitness signed by a physician within the previous 12 months
  4. Min. of 40 logged dives before the start of the course
  5. Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care course completion (or qualifying training) within the last 24 months
  6. Min. 60 logged dives; documented experience in underwater navigation, night diving and deep diving before PADI Divemaster Certification

What can I do as a PADI Divemaster?

  1. Supervise both training and nontraining-related activities by planning, organizing and directing dives.
  2. Assist an instructor during confined and open water training.
  3. Guide Open Water Diver course students on the tour portion of Open Water Dives 2, 3 and 4 at a 2:1 ratio, under the instructor’s indirect supervision.
  4. Accompany Open Water Diver students under the instructor’s indirect supervision during surface swims to and from the entry/exit point and during navigational exercises; as well as supervise remaining students when the instructor conducts a skill.
  5. Accompany student divers during Adventure Dives or specialty course dives under the instructor’s indirect supervision.
  6. Teach and certify PADI Skin Divers independently. This also includes conducting the PADI Seal Team AquaMission: Skin Diver Specialist.
  7. Conduct the Discover Snorkeling program.
  8. Conduct subsequent dives under an instructor’s indirect supervision for Discover Scuba Diving participants at a 2:1 ratio, after participants have satisfactorily completed the first dive with an instructor.
  9. Conduct the Discover Local Diving experience.
  10. Conduct the ReActivate program for certified divers.
  11. Conduct the skin diving skills segment of the Open Water Diver course during confined water dive 2, 3, 4, or 5.
  12. If qualified as a Discover Scuba Diving Leader, independently conduct Discover Scuba Diving in a pool or in confined open water.
  13. Accompany certified PADI Scuba Divers on subsequent dives.
  14. After completing the corresponding instructor training and earning Specialty Instructor ratings, conduct:
  • Digital Underwater Photographer specialty courses under the direction of a PADI Instructor
  • Specialty courses that don’t include dive

The PADI Divemaster Course teaches you to be a leader and take charge of dive activities. Through knowledge development sessions, waterskills exercises and workshops, and hands-on practical assessment, you develop the skills to organize and direct a variety of scuba diving activities. Topics and practical workshops include:

  • The role and characteristics of the PADI Divemaster
  • Supervising dive activities and assisting with student divers
  • Diver safety and risk management
  • Divemaster conducted programs and specialized skills
  • Business of diving and your career
  • Awareness of the dive environment
  • Dive setup and management
  • Mapping an open water site
  • Conducting dive briefings
  • Organizing a search and recovery project and a deep dive
  • Conducting a scuba review and skin diver course
  • Assisting with Discover Scuba Diving and leading Discover Local Diving programs

 

 

Itinerary of the PADI Divemast Course are subjected to change without piror notice as it depend on Candidate learning ability and cooperation with the Instructor. Before the start of the PADI Divemaster Program, Candidate to complete reading Chapter 1 of the PADI Divemaster Manual & Knowledge Review. Candidate is also encourage to complete reading the PADI Divemaster Manual & Knowledge Reviews during the course of training.

The following are the Performance Requirements of the PADI Divemaster Course:

  • Complete Knowledge Development Segments including Knowledge Reviews through Divemaster Online.
  • Create an Emergency Assistance Plan for a designated dive site.
  • Complete Waterskills Exercises.
  • Complete a Diver Rescue Assessment.
  • Complete the Dive Skills Workshop and Assessment.
  • Complete Practical Application Skills.
  • Complete Divemaster-Conducted Programs Workshops.
  • Complete Practical Assessments.
  • Meet the Professionalism Criteria.
  • Complete the PADI Divemaster Final Examination.

* PADI Divemaster Candidate with less than 60 logged dives, usually the training will take about 3 weeks or 21days.

* PADI Divemaster Candidate with more than 60 logged dives, usually the training will take about 2 weeks or 14days.

  • All Participants Are Required To Fill Up The PADI Release of Liability/ Assumption of Risk / Non-Agency Acknowledge Form Before Any Diving Activity.
  • All Participants Are Required To Fill Up The PADI Standard Safe Diving Practices Statement of Understanding Before Any Diving Activity.
  • All Participants Are Required To Fill Up The PADI Medical Statement Before Any Diving Activity.
  • If There Are Any Pre-Existing Medical Conditions (Eg Asthma, Heart Conditions, Operations Etc) May Prevent You From Diving, Please Consult Your Doctor For A Medical Clearance Before Any Diving Activity.
  • For Certified Divers, A Proof of Certification From Any Training Agency Is Required Before The Diving Activity.
  • Divers Should Not Take Flight 12Hrs After Scuba Diving. 
  • Under 10Yrs Old Are Not Allow To Participate In The Program Except Bubble Maker Program (8 - 9Yrs Old) Conducted In Pool Only.
  • For Children Between 10 - 11Yrs Old Going To Confined Water or Open Water, Parents or Guardian Must Review The Youth Diving Responsibility & Risks FlipChart As Well As Fill Up The Youth Diving Responsibility And Risks Acknowledgement Form Before Any Diving Activity.
  • Cancellations Made BEFORE 1800hrs A Day Before The Scheduled Program/ Course/ Trip Are Fully Refundable.
  • Cancellations Made AFTER 1800hrs A Day Before The Scheduled Program/ Course / Trip For ANY REASONS Are Refundable Subjected To 10% Service Fees.
  • Cancellations Made On Day of The Scheduled Program/ Course / Trip For ANY REASONS Are Non-Refundable.
